Day 1: Gondar to Sankabar

Embark on a scenic drive from Gondar to Debark, where you will obtain your park permit and meet your mandatory scout at the Park headquarters. Afterward, continue your journey to Sankabar (3250m ASL), the site of your first overnight camp. An early start is essential, as the drive from Gondar typically takes 2-3 hours. Once you reach Buytras (Simien Lodge), your trek begins, taking approximately 3-4 hours to reach the Sankabar campsite. Along the way, keep an eye out for your first sighting of the iconic Gelada baboons, a highlight of this stunning route.

Day 2:  Sankabar to Geech

On the morning of day 2, we begin our trek to Geech, passing by the stunning Jinbar waterfall. The hike will take approximately 5-7 hours. After descending to the Jinbar Wenz (the river feeding the waterfall), we’ll tackle a short ascent to Geech village. Just beyond the village lies the campsite, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, complemented by the presence of towering giant lobelia plants. The nearby Kedadit summit is a perfect spot to witness a mesmerizing sunset. The campsite is situated at an altitude of 3600m ASL.

Day 3: Geech to Ambaras to Gondar

On this day, we trek from Geech to the Imet Gogo promontory, offering one of the most breathtaking views in the entire mountain range. This is also an excellent opportunity to spot the majestic Lammergeier vultures soaring above. After taking in the stunning vistas, we make our way back, trekking to the road near the village of Ambaras, where we’ll meet the car for the drive back to Gondar. The trek will take approximately 4-5 hours.
